Student poster panels must measure up to 24 inches
wide and 40 inches long. If you plan to mount your poster panels on a
30” x 40” foam board, the following will facilitate printing:
Create 2 panels in PowerPoint. One panel will be the header and should include the
name of your poster, names of students involved, name of department, and
Long Island
University
.
Size this panel at 6 inches high by 40 inches
wide.
The second panel will be the actual poster. Size
this panel at 24 inches high by 40 inches wide.
Once both panels have been created, they can be brought
down to the Multimedia Language Lab, Library Learning Center Basement, Room B-021.
Both panels will fit easily on 30” x 40”

I
have a very important conference, meeting or I am under a deadline. Can I
have my poster printed at any time even on Sundays or late nights?
No. We do not provide 24/7 service. Printing hours are Monday through Friday
from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Can
I finish or edit my project at the place where I can have it printed?
No. We can only print the projects.
Do
I have to make an appointment or sign a waiting list? How long to I
have to wait?
No appointments are necessary and there is no waiting list. We print
posters on "first-come-first-served" basis. On average, it takes
about 15 - 25 minutes to print a single poster. On very busy days, you
might have to wait a few hours or on rare occasions, we might ask the
person to come back the next day in the morning.
Where
do I go to have my poster/project printed?
L.I.U.:
Library
Learning
Center
Basement, Room B-021
Outside locations: Printing shops or Design shops and companies.
If
I don’t want to design the poster myself, where do I go to have my
project done (put together) or designed?
Outside locations: Printing shops or design shops or you could ask a
Media Arts student at LIU.
What
program do I use to design a poster?
Any Microsoft Office software (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Paint
formats) or any Adobe Suite Software (PDF, Photoshop, Illustrator).
Can
I get a sample of a project?
No. We do not share people's intellectual property or work with third
parties unless the owner(s) explicitly allow it in writing.
Who
will help me with the text or the content?
We do not create the content, type the text or proof read the text.
You should consult with an experienced writer or your faculty advisor about
your poster text, content facts and figures.
Who
can help me to design the poster?
Outside locations: Printing shops, design shops and companies or qualified
individuals such as a Media Arts student.
Poster design is done by companies, qualified experienced designers
or anyone who has experience with projects or programs.
Can
the Language Lab correct some text on the poster or edit the elements on
the poster?
No. We recommend you start working on the project and its content
weeks before it is due. Many small adjustments and corrections add up to
hours of additional work and the project will quickly become hard to finish
on time.
Who
will help me with a program? Can you?
No. Instead,
you should use outside locations: Printing shops or design shops and
companies or qualified professionals.
Can
I get multiple prints?
No, unless it is explicitly requested in writing on University
letterhead, signed by the department or your project advisor, including an
on-campus telephone extension for verification purposes.
Do
you charge for the poster(s)?
No.
